5 Ways To Re-kindle The Romance This Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate the day with your significant other than by dazzling them with a little bit of romanceWhether you've been dating for 3 months, 3 years, or 3 decades, it's time to make romance a priority. Now is your chance to prove to them how much you care by surprising them with a night filled with love. To give you some ideas, we have put together a list of 5 ways you can help re-kindle the romance in your relationship. Let's take a look!

1. Tune out the rest of the world

Turn off the TV, put your phone away, stop thinking about work, the kids, or the stress going on in your everyday life and just pretend the power went out and it's just you two alone. By letting go of all distractions, your focus can just be on each other. Talk, laugh and open up with each other about your ambitions, dreams, your past, what you hope for in the future, and what you hope for in the relationship. You can even pop open a bottle of wine to help get the conversation flowing and start building a bucket list of your life together as a couple.

2. Plan a date night

On Valentine's Day, it's hard to beat dinner at a nice restaurant accompanied by flowers, chocolates and a glass of champaign. It's a cliché for a reason. However, if crowded restaurants aren't your thing or you want a break from the same old date, there are many ways you can spice up your night. Here are a few cute and romantic date night ideas we think you and your partner should try:

  • Play a game of mini golf, ice-skating, axe-throwing, karaoke, rock-climbing, or bowling followed by a few games at the arcade
  • Book a night away at a hotel
  • Set up a picnic in the boot of your car and stargaze up at the night sky
  • Watch a movie at your local drive-in theatre
  • Put on your best (and most comfortable) shoes and go out dancing
  • Keep it casual by staying in, ordering food and playing a few board games
  • Arrange a scavenger hunt (make the clues personal to your relationship)
  • Head to your local bar for a trivia night, then go bar hopping
  • Show off your creative side with a Paint and Sip class

3. Set the mood

Nothing screams romance quite like a romantic setting and mood. So why not create a romantic ambiance by switching off all the lights, lighting up a few candles around the house, and putting on some romantic music. This will create an amorous, intimate and idyllic atmosphere to your night. Enhance more of the human senses by grabbing out your diffuser and putting a sweet and delicate fragrance in the air with essential oils. When we think of love and romance, it's hard to go wrong with floral scents. We recommend the Geranium, Juniper Berry and Chamomile essential oils for a night of romance.

4. Dress up

Let's face it ladies, half the fun of going out is before the actual out part when you're at home getting ready. Women love a good excuse to buy a new outfit, get their hair and nails done, and spend hours before the big event pampering themselves up. It's all part of the excitement. When it comes to a night on the town, being dressed up can boost a girl's confidence. So let's put that same thought into dressing up (or down) for a night of romance. This will help put that spark and lust back into the relationship. If you're a woman, try wearing lingerie under their dress and having your hair done up. if you're a man perhaps put on a nice suit and try manscaping. Do whatever makes you comfortable and confident.

5. Give each other a massage

At the end of the night, when you're exhausted and full from dinner but not yet ready for bed, why not try being sensual with your partner by giving them a massage? This will create an intimacy between you both and help bring you closer as a couple. Not only is it great for foreplay, but can also bring many other benefits to your relationship. Is your partner stressed? Overworked? Tired from being on their feet all day? Well a massage is a great way of reducing stress, relieving muscle tension and increasing relaxation. Don't forget to use a massage oil to help provide a smooth glide and some much needed aromatherapy.
